Step 2- Connections

I decided that the part of beauty and decay I want to focus on is elderly people and I also decided that I want to make a collage. I made quite a few connections with my ideas.
Connection 1 - Tom Lehrer- When You're Old and Gray
"Your teeth will start to go, dear,
Your waist will start to spread.
In twenty years or so, dear,
I'll wish that you were dead."
The lyrics of this song shows growing old in a negative way, although it is very funny.
Connection 2- Shakespeare quote
"With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come"
-Merchant of Venice, William Shakespeare
This quote, unlike the song shows growing old is a positive way.
Connection 3 - Sanda Anderlon

I looked at a lot of collage artists like Hannach Hoch and John Stezaker but I could not really get inspired by their art and I just didn't like it that much but then I came across Sanda Anderlon and I fell in love! Sanda Anderlon makes big, colorful collages and as soon I saw this collage (the picture), I knew that I wanted to make something as full and lively as she did.
Connection 4- Wrinkles of the city, Berlin.

I read an article about this unique street art done by JR, he worked on 15 different building and portrayed older people who have lived through the changes of the city. "Their (the older people) individual life stories and what they have gone through show up in their facial features just as Berlin’s history does on the buildings where JR posts up the portraits."
They are done in form of photographs.
