Film club
I started the first Film Club at my school to explore and share my interest in film. I selected several movies I felt were superb and would instigate thought-provoking discussions, and I recruited 11 dedicated members. The concept of Film Club was simple: to watch and discuss films. There are two key elements that makes ABA’s Film Club important: the social experience and interesting discussions.
The films I chose and the guiding questions I set stimulate passionate, intriguing and relevant conversations. Depending on the film we screen, our discussions focus on global issues or artistic technique. For example, Get Out led us to discuss modern racism while The Graduate stirred our discussion to focus on style. Because we have members from different backgrounds, we are also able to examine various perspectives of one idea.
Our Film Club legitimizes film as an artistic and educational form, and fosters enjoyable social gatherings and meaningful dialogues.
